Apollo Career Center's Garden Cafe will open for business Tuesday, September 23, and will serve lunch from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The all-you-can-eat buffet is $6 and includes a salad and hot bar with an assortment of desserts, and choice of beverage. Law enforcement officials from the Bluffton Police Department, Allen County Sheriff, Lima Police Department and Shawnee Township Police, along with members of LACNIP, will come together in an informal gathering to discuss community issues, build relationships, and enjoy a free cup of McDonald’s coffee this weekend.
It all takes place starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Bluffton McDonald's restaurant, State Route 103.
Each fall, Corey and Miranda Greer, formerly of Bluffton and now of Findlay, host a party designed to raise money, which provides Christmas gifts to under-privileged children registered with Friends of Santa. Here's their information: www.friendsofsanta.org.
"A group of guys who I went to high school with, and their wives, congregate at our house for golf and to watch an Ohio State football game. We raffle tickets off to win door prizes and use 100 percent of the proceeds for the children," said Greer.
A new floor is coming to the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.
As a result of the spring water damage that occurred to the town hall a new floor overlay is required. The village has reserved the last week in September through the first week in October for Diller Flooring to install the new floor, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator.
“They are updating their previous estimate to include the installation of a sound dampening membrane under the proposed tile floor to reduce the noise infiltration on the second floor,” said Mehaffie.
The 2014 Bluffton High School Football Moms invite community groups to join this year's BHS homecoming parade, on Friday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m.
The parade forms at The Centre and Bluffton swimming pool on North Main Street and Snider Road at 5:15 p.m., and will end at Harmon Field on College Avenue.
Bluffton is on the route of the Hancock Handlebars 44th annual Horizontal Hundred on Sunday, Sept. 7.
The event will bring hundreds of bicyclists through Bluffton. A rest stop for the bikers is at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, according to Paul Craun of the organization.
This year’s event has rides of 20, 32, 62 and 100 miles. Bluffton is on the 100-mile route.
“Join us for one of the flattest rides in Ohio. Great ride for your first 100 mile “Century” attempt,” said Craun.
