BFR Sports and Fitness released its 2013-14 calendar this week. The calendar includes lots of individual lesson opportunities, tournaments, league competition and special events. The calendar follows:

Bob and Vicky Francis of Rawson, announce the engagement of their daughter, Chase Francis, to Brett Eikenbary. The couple will exchange vows at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Bluffton on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013.

The bride-to-be graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 2000 and from the University of Findlay in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and law & liberal arts followed by earning a master’s in business administration and public administration in 2006.

Area craft and home business consultants are encouraged to register for the Craft and Home Business Expo to be held at BFR Sports & Fitness on Saturday, Sept. 28.  

The Expo is a new addition to the Bluffton Fall Festival. The Expo will be held indoors at the BFR facility from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Vendors are encouraged to register by July 31 in order to get a space. Cost is $30 for a 10x10 space in the gym. A variety of crafters have shown interest and representatives from  Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Paparazzi Accessories, Scentsy and Wildtree have already registered. 

Blanchard Valley Health System is hosting a nursing college fair Friday, July 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. The nursing college fair is for high school students interested in pursuing nursing careers as well as current nurses who would like to learn about continuing education opportunities.

Summer is here, bringing with it dangerous excessive heat. The American Red Cross has steps people can follow to stay safe as the temperatures soar.

“Excessive heat can be deadly; it has caused more deaths in recent years than all other weather events,” said Todd James, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot Counties “We want everyone to stay safe during the hot weather and have some reminders for them to follow when the weather is hot and humid.”
