From the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools: Due to a new state law passed this summer, "reduced price" meals for qualifying students will be free this year.

The August 8 Special Election had a higher than expected turnout across the state of Ohio. The unofficial results, with a total of 3,059,440 votes cast, are a rejection of State Issue 1 “Elevating the Standards to Qualify for an Initiated Constitutional Amendment and to Pass a Constitutional Amendment.” Votes reported by the Ohio Secretary of State are:
YES - 1,315,346 - 42.99%
NO - 1,744,094 - 57.01%
Bluffton polling place manager Edna Conkling told the Icon that “it was very busy, very surprising. They did not expect us to have this many votes.” All Bluffton precincts had to have an additional supply of ballots provided.
After the polls closed at 7:30 p.m., Bluffton poll workers reported 1,069 in person votes plus 15 provisional votes.
Entries must be received by August 31 at 4:30 p.m.
FINDLAY—Residents and landowners of Hancock County will have the opportunity to participate in the Hancock Park District’s Hunting-with-Permission Lottery program provided in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife. Registration can only be done online at www.HancockParks.com from August 1-31. This year’s lottery will be posted on the Hancock Park District’s Facebook page at 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 12. Winners will be announced at that time and those selected will be notified by email. All current rules and regulations and parking passes will then be emailed.
A reminder from the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools:
Students going into the 7th and 12th grade during the 2023-2024 school year are required to receive the meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine for entry. This is a two-dose requirement and all seniors should have received their first dose going into the 7th grade.
This will be the 7th graders’ first dose and the seniors’ second dose.
The Allen County Health Department will be doing an onsite clinic at Bluffton Middle School on Weds. August 9, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. A letter and a form were mailed out in June to take to the onsite clinic which must be completed ahead of time by the parent.
You can also stop in the Bluffton Middle School or High School office and pick up a form. You can take your child to your own physician, a Health Department or attend this clinic to get their vaccination.
