Here's the report on today's storm over Bluffton the from AEP:

At 11a.m. radar continued to indicate a squall line extending from Grand Rapids, Mich., to Warsaw, Ind., moving east at 55 mph. This
squall line has been producing widespread wind gusts of 55-65 mph with isolated gusts over 70 mph. AEP meteorologists expect this squall line to weaken only slightly and turn southeast into central Ohio this afternoon.

There's still time to register for the Saturday, July 23, second annual Bluffton American Legion golf scramble. The scramble, held at Bluffton Golf Club, has a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

This year the stakes increased as a 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT will be won by a golfer who records a hole-in-one at the event.

The cost to golf is $50 per person or $200 per team. The registration fee includes green fees, cart, door prizes and a steak dinner provided by Richland Manor.

Two significant Bluffton history books are available as reprints this summer from the Swiss Community Historical Society, according to Phil Kingsley, society president.

The books, "Historical Events of the Mennonite Settlement in Allen and Putnam Counties, Ohio," by P.B. Amstutz (1925 - with maps added to this reprinting by Keith Sommer), and "Life in the Bluffton and Pandora, Ohio Community, 1877-1910: Excerpts from the Bluffton News," by Edgar Schumacher (1997), are the two books.
