BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys tennis team tied visiting Shawnee 2-2 in a makeup match on Thursday evening, April 16.

The Pirates are 5-1-1 after the tie, as the second doubles match was canceled due to rain.

Pirate senior Grady Coonfare won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles.  

Pirate senior Isaiah Kohli lost at second singles 6-0, 6-3.

Senior Nick Lovett was beaten at third singles by a 6-4, 6-4 score.

Bluffton senior Hudson Phillips and junior Braydon McClure won at first doubles 6-4, 6-4.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School softball team pitched and hit well to knock off visiting Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson 7-3 on Thursday, April 16.

Bluffton scored all seven runs in their final three at bats to pull off the upset. The Pirates fell behind 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth when their bats came alive.

Bluffton scored three runs in the home fifth to take a 4-2 lead. A three-run sixth extended their cushion to 7-2. DJ pushed one run across in the top of the seventh, but came up four runs short.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School baseball team soundly defeated visiting Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson 13-4 in a league game on Thursday, April 16.

The Pirates plated seven runs in a decisive second inning explosion. DJ edged within 7-4, but the hosts pushed four runs across the plate in the fourth frame to regain control, 11-4.

The Pirates tacked on two runs in the home fifth inning to win by nine. Rain stopped play, but the teams managed to get in an official game.

The Bluffton High School track and field teams have been active and very successful in recent meets.

HOME MEET
On April 8, the Pirate boys and girls swept a four-team meet at Bluffton University. The Bluffton boys dominated with 108 points. Delphos Jefferson finished a distant second with 23 points, followed by Lima Central Catholic (17) and Temple Christian (11).

The Pirate girls also won their meet easily with 93 points. Jefferson tallied 29 points, while LCC again scored 17 and Temple Christian 15.

CELINA __The visiting Bluffton High School boys tennis team defeated Celina 4-1 on Wednesday evening, April 15.

The Pirates improved to 5-1 with their fourth consecutive victory. Celina dropped to 2-3 with the home defeat.

The Pirates easily won all six singles sets, dropping only seven games.

Bluffton senior Grady Coonfare cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 double bagel win at first singles.  

Pirate senior Isaiah Kohli also won handily at second singles 6-2, 6-2.

McCOMB__The Bluffton High School softball team lost at non-league foe McComb 7-4 on Tuesday, April 13.

The Panthers scored two runs in both the first and second innings to build an early 4-0 lead.

Bluffton plated a run in the top of the fourth, but McComb matched it in the home fourth to maintain a 5-1 advantage.

The Pirates pushed two runs across the plate in the fifth inning to inch within 5-3. The Panthers tallied single runs in the fifth and sixth frames to rebuild the margin to 7-3.
