DELPHOS--The Bluffton High School football team grabbed an early lead but lost to rival Delphos Jefferson 27-7 in a Northwest Conference competition on October 14.

The loss put Pirate playoff status in jeopardy and also ended any chance of sharing the conference crown.

Bluffton fell to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the league with the costly defeat. They will need a week 10 upset over visiting Columbus Grove to tie for second place in the NWC, and likely need that victory just to make the playoffs.
