BLUFFTON __The Bluffton High School girls basketball team fell victim to an early scoring barrage and lost 66-36 to visiting undefeated Miller City in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon, December 27.
The Pirate girls trailed 21-6 after the first quarter and fell further behind at 35-14 at intermission.
Wildcat Sophia Ruck notched five baskets in the first period and finished with a game-high 18 points.
BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys basketball team utilized a big fourth quarter to defeat visiting Wayne Trace 57-42 in the semifinals of the annual McDonald's Holiday Classic tournament on Saturday, December 27.
The Pirates led just 39-38 after three quarters. But the hosts poured it on with an 18-4 fourth period to win going away.
KENTON __The Bluffton High School boys bowling team made program history by winning the 15-team Kenton Holiday Baker tournament on Tuesday, December 23 at Hillcrest Lanes.
“This is the first championship in the program’s four-year history, and we can’t wait for more,” said Pirate head coach Ben Nye. “What a day for Bluffton Pirate bowling.”
DEFIANCE__The visiting Bluffton High School girls basketball team rallied in the second half but came up short 46-43 to Defiance in a non-conference contest on Monday, December 22.
The Pirate girls trailed 16-6 after the first quarter. After playing to a 13-13 second stanza, Bluffton remained 10 points behind the Bulldogs at intermission.
Bluffton outscored the hosts 13-8 in the third period to slice the deficit in half and inch within 37-32 heading to the final stanza.
LIMA BATH__The Bluffton High School wrestling team finished a strong third at the 11-team Allen County Invitational tournament on Saturday, December 20 at Bath.
Perennial power Allen East won the tournament with 257.5 points. Elida (237.5) came in second, while Bluffton finished a strong third with 216.5 points.

LIMA__The visiting Bluffton High School boys bowling team comfortably defeated Lima Central Catholic in a dual match at 20th Century Lanes on Saturday, December 20.
The Pirate boys won their overall match by a wide margin of 2,352-1,620 to improve to 2-1 this season.
