The Pirates lose no seniors and will be back for the 2019-20 season.

(LIMA) – Bluffton ran into a buzzsaw in the OHSAA District Semifinals Thursday in the form of Ottawa-Glandorf. 

The Titans recently got their roster back to full strength and put on full display in a 68-30 defeat of the Pirates.  Bluffton finishes the season 16-8.  Ottawa-Glandorf moves on to the District Final to take on Coldwater, which upset undefeated and state-ranked Archbold in the earlier game Thursday evening. 

Spring sports are on the way at Bluffton High School. Alex Hanna, athletic director, provided the Icon with the spring sports schedule for:
• Varsity baseball
• Varsity boys and girls track
• Varsity softball
• Varsity boys tennis
• Junior varsity softball
• Middle school track

Nassar improved to 44-0 on the season and will look to join Josh Falk, Brian Edwards and Tom Falk as Pirates who went undefeated for an entire season with a state championship.

(TROY) - Senior Deandre Nassar continued his undefeated season by capturing the district title in the 182 class in dominating fashion. 

With the win, Nassar advanced to the OHSAA state wrestling meet for the third straight year, joining an elite list for past Pirates to have accomplished this feat. 

Six Bluffton High School wrestlers competed at the wrestling district tournament over the weekend.

Of the six, DeAndre Nassar earned a first place title and advances to state tournament, maintaining his undefeated season. Other Pirate wrestlers at district follow:

• Tayton Kleman - 106 pound weight class
• Kadin Basil - 113 pound weight class
• Jeremy Sturgeon - 126 pound weight class
• Josh Mehaffie - 138 pound weight class

(TROY) - Deandre Nassar improved to 42-0 on the season and advanced to the semifinals of the 182 weight class in Friday's action at the OHSAA District Meet.  The top four wrestlers in each class advance to the State Meet next weekend. 

Deandre earned a 15-4 major decision over Versailles Derek Cavin to open the District Meet.  Nassar followed that up with a late pin of Clermont's Luke Rayburn, a match which Nassar led 21-7 at the time.

(MILLER CITY) – A rough and tumble affair ended with a huge fourth quarter for Bluffton as they erupted for 29 points in the final 8 minutes to defeat Fairview 58-49 in the OHSAA Sectional Final.  Four Pirates scored in double figures led by Luke Denecker’s 17 points.  Mason Soper and Jared Piercefield each scored 12 and Baylor Garmatter 11.
