(OTTAWA) - In the first week of the girls' basketball season Bluffton and Arlington met in the finals of the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament. 

The Red Devils won the contest 40-39 and Bluffton hoped to get some revenge in the real tournament, the OHSAA Districts. 

The Bluffton Powerlifters participated in a meet in Bradford on Feb 23. Here are their individual lifting results:

Elizabeth Bourassa:

185 Squat, 115 Bench, 225 Deadlift - 1st place in her weight class

Ivy Augsburger:

160 Squat, 90 Bench, 230 Deadlift - 5th place in her weight class

Shyanne Mortimer: 

225 Squat,140 Bench, 325 Deadlift - 1st place in her weight class

Morgan Nusbaum:

225 Squat, 140 Bench, 320 Deadlift - 3rd place in her weight class

Elizabeth Swisher:

145 Squat, 100 Bench, 200 Deadlift

Deandre Nassar won the 182 class and Bluffton advanced six wrestlers to next weekend’s OHSAA District Meet.  

As a team the Pirates finished fourth. Joining Nassar in Troy next week will be Kaden Basil, Josh Mehaffie, Tayton Kleman, Jeremy Sturgeon and Jackson Wilson.  Landen Lugibihl, Dustin Mortimer and Elijah Conley all finished fifth and will be District alternates.

Bluffton HS girls' basketball team won its sectional tournament title tonight. Bluffton defeated Leipsic 46 to 40 to advance to the district. Watch the Icon for details on the game and the district tournament.

This weekend in Indianapolis

The 2018-19 HCAC men's basketball regular season has come to a close and the action shifts to tournament play this weekend.

The winner of the six-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament will earn the conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division III men's basketball tournament.

Hanover College (19-6, 14-4 HCAC) captured their third-straight men's basketball regular season conference title.
