A game that started very well for the Bluffton boy’s basketball team slipped away in the third quarter and the deficit was too large to overcome. Paulding dealt Bluffton a 42-35 defeat in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament Tuesday evening to end the Pirate season at 10-13. The game was the final one for seniors Kaleb Jefferson, Dakota Bricker, Joel Piercefield and Cole Fruchey. (more at www.blufftonpirates.com)
-The first time Bluffton and Columbus Grove met in Girls basketball this season, Columbus Grove came away with a double overtime win. The second meeting looked to be headed the same way. But the Bulldogs made a layup with two seconds left to defeat the Pirates 42–40. The loss ends Bluffton’s season at 17-7. (see.www.blufftonpirates.com)
The second season begins Friday for Bluffton’s wrestling program. The Pirates will compete in the OHSAA Sectional meet at LCC. The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the District Tournament in Troy next weekend. The top four in each weight class there will move on to the State Meet in Columbus.
