Bluffton Soccer Club registration starts in late January - registration forms on The Icon

The weather outside may be frightful, but it's time to start thinking about Bluffton soccer.

Open registration for youth wanting to play in the Bluffton Soccer Club takes place at the Bluffton middle school from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, and Thursday, Jan. 30, Registrations with payment is due on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Three in double figures as Bluffton HS girls beat Perry

Bluffton Lady Pirates defeated Perry, in girls'non-conference basketball game on Jan. 4, 63-25. In double figures for Bluffton were Sarah Schriner 19, Paige Buroker 17 and Abbie Parkins 12.

Pirate boys fall to Ottawa-Glandorf

Ottawa-Glandorf boys basketball team defeated Bluffton 71-51 in a non-conference game on Saturday. Levi Kistler led all scorers with 19 points . Attached are box scores.

Number one Pirate Dennis Lee: A coach for all seasons calls his final play

Bluffton High School football players recognize that call. It’s one of Dennis Lee’s favorite football plays.

“Block down and kick out. That’s been a stable, even in the shotgun,” said Lee, as he talked about his favorite plays and lots of other football recollections with The Icon shortly after Christmas.

Lee, whose title as Bluffton High School head football coach, is listed in 27 consecutive season programs at Bluffton High School, handed in his uniform for the last time when the Pirates ended the season in 2013.

BHS girls' halt Lincolnview 57-43

Bluffton High School girls' basketball team defeated visiting Lincolnview 57 to 43 Thursday in a Northwest Conference contest.

Kistler's 16 leads Bluffton over Wapak in non-league action

When was the last time Bluffton High School boys defeated Wapakoneta in basketball? Perhaps the early 1950s?

The Pirates beat the Western Buckeye League opponents 57-41 at Bluffton on Tuesday. After leading 16-11 after one quarter and 21-18 at half, Bluffton extended its lead to 36-29 after three before pulling away in the final period.

Levi Kistler of Bluffton led all scorers tonight with 16 points. Both team's box scores are attachments at the bottom of this story.
