Deadlocked in a 0-0 pitching duel, junior Katie Prater lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh. Classmate Averey Rumer came home for the go ahead run.
Sophomore Libby Schaadt pitched 7 scoreless innings, giving up just four hits along the way. Kayla White had a hit and two stolen bases for Bluffton. Rumer also had a hit along with the game winning run.
Several Bluffton High School athletes are Northwest Conference scholar athletes, according to Jim Raabe, NWC commissioneer.
To be named a scholar-athlete a student must be a letter winner in a sport. The gold level is for students with grade point averages of 3.5 to 4.0 during the season. A silver level is for students with grade point averages of 3.00 to 3.49 during the season.

Bluffton High School wrestler Deandre Nassar earned a hard fought sudden victory decision in the consolation semifinals Saturday morning at the state wrestling meet.
Deandre scored a point to win the ultimate tie break 3-2 over Sullivan’s Jacob Campbell.
In the third place match, Nassar dropped a 6-1 decision to Martin Ferry’s Dalton Hoover. Deandre closes the season with a fourth place podium finish at the state meet and a 41-3 overall record.
Onto the state semi-finals! Deandre Nassar, Bluffton High School wrestler, won his quarterfinal match Friday morning. He will wrestle in the semifinals tonight according to information from www.blufftonpirates.com.

Junior Deandre Nassar will look to join a long list of Bluffton High wrestlers who have placed, and won, state titles. Nassar opened his State Meet run Thursday afternoon against Ashland Crestview’s Colton Campbell, winning a 10-4 decision. Nassar advances with a record of 39-1 on the season.
On Saturday and Sunday, March 10-11, the Bluffton area will have 27 swimmers competing at the Northwest Ohio YMCA-League Championships at Bowling Green State University. They will compete with more than 800 swimmers from the Northwest Ohio league that includes 18 teams from lower Michigan and northwest Ohio.
All of these swimmers are on the Bluffton Sardines summer swim team, but for winter swim, they swim with the Lima YMCA Barracuda Team or the Putnam County YMCA.
