Much can be made of the pageantry of high school football in a small town. The sights and sounds. The colors and traditions. And for one Bluffton couple, it also includes having a second grandson named Ohio's Mr. Football. Gary and Vi Bricker of Kibler Street are that couple and have seen their share of high school football's ups and downs.
This past week, their grandson Maty Mauk, a senior at Kenton High School, was named the state's most outstanding high school football player.
The Eric Garmatter coach era started with a "W" as Bluffton High School girls launched the 2011-12 basketball season with 50-41 win over Cory-Rawson in the first round of the McDonalds' holiday tournament at BHS on Nov. 25.
Bluffton faces Arlington on Nov. 26 in the title game at 8 a.m. Arlington was a 59-31 winner over Allen East.
Logan Steingass, Bluffton High School senior soccer player, was selected to play in the 10th annual Northwest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Senior all-district game.

The girls' contest starts at noon. The boys' contest starts at 2 p.m. Both games are played on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Findlay High School's Graham Field.
