St. John’s United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., Bluffton, will celebrate its 145th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 16, according to Rev. Carol Clements, pastor.
The celebration begins with a 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Northwest Ohio Association Minister, Rev. Dan Busch, will be the speaker. Special musical selections provided by the choir and instrumentalists will enhance the celebration.
Members of the Bluffton Presbyterian Church invite the community to a free community picnic on the Presbyterian church lawn, 112 N. Main St., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16.
Food will be provided including shredded chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, cookies, lemonade and other items.
A variety of lawn games for all ages including bakery Bingo for kids will take place.
Almost 20 Bluffton area residents – runners and walkers – will participate in the 9th annual 5K Mock Turtle run/walk, Saturday, Sept. 1, in Fryburg (near Wapakoneta), according to Rachel Mathewson.
The event is part of that community’s annual homecoming.
The area participants are part of an Ebenezer Mennonite Church 5K Challenger group.
Tri-County Assembly of God, Bluffton, will offer a "Moving Through Grief," support group and counseling this fall.
Lori A. Hunt, M.A.C., L.P.C., L.P.S.C., a licensed professional counselor, will direct and present the program each Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m., Sept. 6 through Oct. 25, at the church 835 N. Main St., Bluffton.

The Pandora United Methodist Church will host a free community meal on Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 5:30 to 7: p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington St., Pandora. The meal this month is provided by the Mission Committee. The menu is sausage gravy, mashed potatoes, buttermilk biscuits, coleslaw, applesauce, assorted cookies, and beverage.
