Clothes, other back-to-school items to be exempt from sales tax

A back-to-school sales tax holiday will be held this weekend in Ohio.

It is an opportunity for parents to receive some sales tax relief during back-to-school shopping in preparation for the upcoming school year. This year’s sales tax holiday was authorized in the state budget bill.

Future of refuse in our district

Allen County is part of the North Central Ohio Waste Management District (NCOWM). We are one of the largest waste districts in the state, comprised of Allen, Hardin, Champaign, Madison, Union and Shelby counties. There are currently 52 waste districts in Ohio.

ODOT reports on four projects that affect traffic on Interstate 75 and two that affect U.S. 30  this week. Those follow:

• Interstate 75 over Little Riley Creek, just north of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Shoulder restrictions are also possible during the project. A maximum width restriction of 12 feet is in place during the lane restrictions. Work will last through mid-August. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.

Concerning several 2019 projects

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Executive Order 11988, is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects.
