April library newsletter

April 3-9 is National Library Week, a celebration of libraries. As a community library, the Bluffton Public Library provides a connection to books and information, to technology, and to our neighbors.  Celebrate National Library Week by visiting the library and exploring all it has to offer.

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District has released the Honor Roll for the 3rd Quarter of the 2021-2022 school year for grades 6-12:

Robert E. Painter, of Pandora, Ohio, was surrounded by his loving family when he went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 1, 2022. He was born November 26, 1933, on the Nau family farm near Arcadia, Ohio, to his parents Robert W. and Alice B. (Nau) Painter. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Beverly J. Damon, in 1951, and were blessed with more than 70 years of adventures together. She survives in Pandora, Ohio.

The Bluffton University softball team split a double-header with Albion College on Wednesday, April 5. The Beavers dropped game one, 4-3, but then secured a 7-0 shutout victory in game two. Bluffton improved to 9-11 on the season, while Albion fell to 8-14.

It was the Manchester University Spartans making the trip to Memorial Field on Tuesday, April 5, to face off in a Heartland Collegiate Conference doubleheader. Bluffton held off the visitors 4-3 in game one and then the Beavers followed that up with a convincing 11-2 victory in the nightcap. 

The Ohio Naval Militia (ONM), an organized military unit that has served the State of Ohio and the nation since 1896, is seeking recruits age 17 and older who want to serve Ohio in a naval defense force.

The unit serves under Ohio's Adjutant General and is headquartered at the Camp Perry Joint Training Center, Port Clinton, Ohio. The Ohio Naval Militia is a part of the State of Ohio's Defense Forces which include the Ohio National Guard, Air National Guard, the Ohio Military Reserve and the Ohio Cyber Reserve.
