Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and School will host a Trunk-or-Treat event in the church/school parking lots, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, from 5:30 –7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31.

The event will have crafts, games and people handing out goodies from decorated car trunks, all of which are free.  Hot dogs, hamburgers and other food items will be available for purchase.  Everyone is welcome.

Our Version of Adult Learning at the senior center

Three Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) sessions take place over the next eight days at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, 132 N. Main St.

The schedule follows (programs are open to the public):

Wednesday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. – Daniel Hodges, naturalist from Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District, gives a presentation on reptiles.

• Thursday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. – Duane Bollenbacher presents Math and Logic, Fun and Games.

During a recent visit to the Bluffton Child Development Center the Icon met up with a future player on the Cleveland Browns, This guy even wears his uniform on non-game days.

Season ends Friday as Grove comes to Harmon Field

The Pirate offense broke loose Friday night in an emphatic 43-14 victory over Ada.  Bluffton was able to run at will on the Bulldog defense, amassing 436 rushing yards.  The win improved the Pirates to 3-6 and dropped the Bulldogs to 2-7. 

Series of fast-paced humorous, family-friendly skits

Bluffton High School's Drama Club hands out some free ice cream for its fall play presentation in early November.

"Free Ice Cream," a collection of two-dozen fast-paced, humorous skits billed as family entertainment by Brett Eshlemn, will be performed at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Satsurday, Nov. 9 and 10, in the Bluffton middle school. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Depression is unhealthy and may require treatment; sadness is a typical human emotion

Depression is a common mental illness that affects millions of people around the world. However, many people suffering from depression may believe they are simply just sad. Likewise, those who do not suffer from depression may mistake extreme sadness as depression.

Unlike depression, sadness is a typical human emotion and a natural part of life that may sometimes even be beneficial. In contrast, depression is unhealthy and may require treatment to alleviate.
