Bluffton High School boys' soccer team, for the fourth straight year, brought home the Northwest Conference trophy. Nine different soups will be offered during a soup benefit planned by Pleasant View United Methodist Church near Bluffton. Proceeds from the event will be used for training and equipping a service dog of an Ottawa man.

The soup benefit is Sunday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to the public. The church is located at 300 Township Road 37, Bluffton.  This is just east of County Line Road 1 (16 in Hancock County).

In Hancock Historical Museum’s Hull House

The Hancock Historical Museum will host an evening of fun for all ages at a Halloween “Spooktacular!” on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5-8 p.m.  

Enjoy tours through the "haunted" Hull House, built in 1881. Sample seasonal treats cooked over the hearth in the historic Crawford Log House. Decorate pumpkins and cookies, or make a Halloween mask inspired by Findlay's own American Mask Factory.

The Bluffton University football team hosted Manchester on Homecoming weekend and it turned out to be a nail-biter. The visiting Spartans came out on top, 21-17, with the help of two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. Bluffton dipped to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in Heartland Conference play while Manchester improved to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the HCAC.

With the Major League Baseball playoffs underway here's the Bluffton High School boys of summer one-half century ago.

Names of the players  on the 1968 team are above the photo. This team went 9-9. Bob Everett pitched a no-hitter game, only to lose on an error to Hicksville, 1-0.

The Icon spotted LEADDOG several places around Bluffton including Maple Crest. The plate is on a white Chrysler SUV with an "I love greyhounds" sticker on the rear window.
