And, was principal oboist for the Lima Symphony Orchestra for 30 years

Marian Jo Souder, 86, died Sept. 16, 2018, at Bluffton Hospital. Jo was born July 10, 1932 in Ft. Worth, Texas, to the late Marion and Nadine (Jones) Souder. 

Jo was a music teacher/band director at Bluffton Schools and later at Blume Jr. High School in Wapakoneta.  She was a principal oboist for the Lima Symphony Orchestra for 30 years.  Jo enjoyed photography, wild horses and traveling. 

Icon viewer Del Gratz saw this plate in Arlington and quickly took a photo with his cell phone. It reads: DUMB. And, no, we don't know what the vehicle owner was thinking when this plate was purchased.

Tuesday evening at the Bluffton University Nature Preserve

Transition Bluffton will hold a public event at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Bluffton University Nature Preserve during, which participants will experience the emotional and health benefits of being in nature.  

Although modern technologies are making our life easier, more and more people are experiencing a sense of unease and anxiety. New scientific research is concluding that our being disconnected from nature may be the cause. Scientists are finding that a connection to the natural world is crucial for our health and well-being.

The Bluffton University football team rattled off 27 points in the second half en route to a 34-0 shutout at Earlham College on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The Beavers improved to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Heartland Conference, while the Quakers stayed winless at 0-3 and 0-1 in the HCAC. It also marked his first victory as a collegiate head coach for Coach Krepps.

Here's the latest butterfly to visit the Icon's backyard. We believe it is a silver-spotted skipper. It's a very familiar Ohio backyard visitor at this time of year.
