University of Findlay honored her in 1993 with the Distinguished Alumnus Award

Rev. Marilyn Ruth Rayle Kern died on March 15, 2018, at 6:30 a.m. She was born Dec. 27, 1933 in Celina, Ohio, to Rev. Fred D. Rayle and Elsie (Fleck) Rayle. After graduating from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, Penn., Marilyn attended Findlay College, from which she graduated in 1955. She then married G. Richard Kern and raised her family in Findlay, Ohio.

Serving is in the Bluffton middle school cafetorium with musical performances in the middle school gymnasium beginning at 4 p.m.

Musical directors are: Alice Basinger, Rachael Lewis, Dave Sycks and Kara Zink.

BFR registrations due by March 18

Several Bluffton Family Recreation classes have registration deadlines coming up on Sunday, March 18, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR director.

These include:

6-12 year old boys and girls
$75 Nonmember/$40 Member

U-6 Soccer
April 3 - May 10 Tuesdays and Thursdays
4-6 year old boys and girls
$60 Non-Members/$30 Members

Town Hall Concert Series

Bluffton native Micah Sommersmith is the next performing on the Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series, according to Jeff Yoder.

The performance is at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 22, in the third floor of the town hall. It is free and open to the public.

Born and raised in Bluffton, Micah Sommersmith has slowly made his way across the midwest, currently living in Wisconsin after stops in Indiana and Illinois.

Along the way, he has developed a unique songwriting voice, drawing on diverse musical influences from folk to hip hop to classical.
