Bluffton Boy Scouts from Troop 256 and one Cub Scout collected items for the Bluffton Food Pantry during "Scouting for Food" earlier this month, according to Victoria Zeits, assistant scoutmaster of troop 256.
Nearly 2,150 items were collected from the community for the pantry.
After collecting the bags, the Scouts delivered and sorted the items. There were over 23 participants (scout youth, scout adults, and scout family members).
Lynda Best of Bluffton is one of eight winners of this year’s Jefferson Awards from Allen County.
Locally the awards are presented by the Lima News, Your Hometown Stations, the United Way of Greater Lima and Husky Energy.
One of the eight Allen County winners will be chosen March 27 to attend the national Jefferson Awards banquet, held in Washington, D.C.
Jefferson Awards are given to local unsung heroes alongside national figures. The mission of the awards is to power others to have maximum impact on the things they care about most.

A pre-season vendor's meeting for one of the largest small town farmers' markets in northwestern Ohio is in early April.
The Bluffton Farmers' Market vendors' meeting is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, in the Bluffton town hall, according to Greg Probst, market director. This is the 13th season for the market.
Bluffton council will meet as a committee of the whole immediately following the regular Monday, March 26, council meeting. The meeting of the whole concerns personnel and will take place immediately following the regular session.
The meeting is in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall.
