St. John Mennonite Church mission festival Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18, featured Dan Wolgemuth, president of Youth for Christ-USA, as its keynote speaker.

Spring OVAL classes at the Senior Center announced

Six new Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) classes planned this spring by the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

• Thursday, March 29 – At the Bluffton Airport, 1080 Navajo Drive, 10 a.m. – Aaron Antrim will give a program on Life Flight. Register in advance for this class. There is no fee to attend.

Janette Reineke is the instructor

Bluffton Family Recreation will offer a chair yoga class this spring instructed by Janette Reineke. Sign up is now underway and the day and time of the class is to be determined, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

"Chair yoga is a practice made up of simple exercises," said Reineke. "Participants can do these to help strengthen and stretch your body while focusing on your mind and help you tap into your breath."

Ada head football coach Bob Olwin told the Icon on Monday night that he will be retiring from coaching, following an illustrious 39-year career that ended with five years in Ada. He will be retiring from teaching physical education at the end of the school year as well.

Ada High School posted a job opening for the head varsity football coaching position on the OHSAA’s website on Monday.

One of the first web-based-only members

The Ada and Bluffton Icons are now members of the Ohio News Media Association (ONMA), according to Fred Steiner, Icon owner.

The Icons are one of the very first web-based-only community news sources to be accepted into membership.

Steiner said that several years ago the association, then known as the Ohio Newspaper Association, did not accept non-print members. With the name change the association has broaden its membership coverage.

ALBION, Mich. - The Bluffton University baseball crew traveled to Michigan for a matchup with Albion College on a cold Tuesday, March 20. Bluffton received a pair of super pitching performance but the defense and bats came up empty against a Briton team that had a 1-9 mark heading into the game. The 3-0 setback dropped the Beavers to 9-6 after opening 8-2 to start the season.
