Margaret I. “Peggy” Wilgus, 89, of Bluffton and formerly of Spencerville, died at 1:55 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, in the Bowling Green Hospice Center.

She was born March 26, 1928, in Lima, the daughter of Howard and Violet Sockrider Cook, who are deceased. Her step-father Howard Preston is also deceased. On Feb. 27, 1948 she married Lewis E. Wilgus, who died May 23, 2014.

The Pandora-Gilboa midget football team won the 2017 NorthWest Midget Football League champions. PG defeated Patrick Henry 30-0 on a soggy Saturday night at McComb HS field.

Apollo Career Center is hosting an Ice Cream and Explore Day for students and their grandparents Wednesday, Oct. 11,  from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Students will act as their grandparents' tour guides for program visits and campus exploration. The visit will culminate with one-on-one time over ice cream in the Apollo Commons. To date, over 350 grandparents have signed up for the event.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Junior defensive end Isaac Zickafoose (Middlebury, Ind./Northridge) has been named the Heartland Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season after his otherworldly performance against Anderson University on Homecoming..

Transition Bluffton will be presenting an Info Session at the library on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. to let us know what they are all about (hint: conversation and events to promote resilience and sustainability)!  This is a new group forming in our area - come, have refreshments, and find out more about it!

Bluffton chamber breakfast in the town hall

Bluffton chamber members will "meet the candidates" during its Friday, Oct. 13, breakfast, according to Phil Zimmerly of the chamber.

Ten candidates seek four spots on Bluffton council and five candidates seek four spots on Bluffton school board.

Council candidates are: Sean Burrell, Jerry Cupples, Mitch Kingsley, Ralph Miller, Tony Pinks, Benjamin Stahl, David Steiner, Phill Talavinia, Roger Warren and Deb Weihrauch.

School board candidates are: Brad Fruchey, Deb Herr, Wesley Klinger, Ken Lugibihl and Jeremy Scoles.
