PHOTO ESSAY - CIick for a video - Bluffton's next fire fighters are first graders in Megan Quinton's class. The students rode the 1911 Studebaker fire truck to the fire station and then learned about fire safety and it it's like to be a Bluffton fire fighter. It's part of the school and community's Fire Prevention Week education.
Bluffton is the 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award winner in the Urban Forestry Award category presented by America in Bloom.
Steve and Susie Stratton accepted the award for the village in a symposium held Oct. 7 in Holliston, Massachusetts. This is the first year that the village has entered the national competition.
Back by request, Emergency Preparedness 2 will be a continuation from the first session on how you can prepare yourself and your family for realistically expected emergencies in our area.
Program will consist of some review for the new folks, plus additional info on water, heat, and food. Q&A as time allows.

On Oct. 6-8 Bluffton girls U10 travel team, "Bluffton Black" played in the Flag City Fall Classic Soccer Tournement in Findlay.
Saturday games were both a win for Bluffton playing:
• U10 AAFC Patriots 3-2
• U10 Pacesetters Villa Black 1-0
Sundays game played were:
• U10 Pacesetters South Red against Bluffton loss 5-1
The top two teams played off in the championship game on Sunday. Bluffton Black U10 (division 2 team) girls took the win coming in 1st place against U10 Pacesetters South Red (division 1 team) with a final score 3-2.
Jason Summers, an accounting and business administration double major at Bluffton University, has spent the last two semesters as well as the summer learning outside of a traditional classroom setting.
The junior from Alvada, Ohio, has been gaining knowledge in his field by taking part in three successive internships. With help from Bluffton’s many career-furthering opportunities, Summers is thankful for each experience.
