From Swords to Plowshares: Our Process of Transformation includes an exhibit of art and poetry in the Sauder Visual Arts Center at Bluffton University. This piece is torch-cut steel created by Madeleine Lord. It is based on a Salt UU speech delivered by Tom Watson, Jr., in 1982. The exhibit is open from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

July 25-26 and Aug. 8-9 at BFR

Two youth adventure camps are set for July and August for youth ages 3 ½ to 6 at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Adventure Camp I takes place from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, July 25-26. Its theme is Sports Galore.

Adventure Camp II takes place from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 8-9. Its theme is Disney Fun.

Each camp’s cost is $12 for BFR members and $20 non-members. Costs include snacks and supplies.

Main Street and SR 103

Late evening road will is scheduled for specific areas on State Route 103 and Main Street on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the village.

Beginning at 10 p.m.,Tuesday, July 11, and recurring on Wednesday, July 12, Premier Patching will perform necessary road maintenance along State Route 103, North Main and South Main streets. 

The work consists of crack sealing needed areas. The work is scheduled to extend through the night and be completed before 6 a.m. with traffic being maintained throughout this project.      

Bluffton council will hold a public hearing in August concerning its sidewalk connectivity project.

The hearing is set for 8:15 p.m. during a regular council meeting in the town hall on Monday, Aug. 14. Residents affected by the proposed projects will receive letters mailed on July 11.

Bluffton council set several committee meetings for July and August. These follow:

July 17 – Utilities to discuss West Elm Street waterline project, town hall, 5:30 p.m.

July 17- Personnel to discuss wage ordinance, town hall, 6:30 p.m.

July 18 – Utilities to discuss west side interceptor change orders, town hall, 6 p.m.

July 20 – Airport commission, Bluffton Airport, 7:30 p.m.

July 24 – Sidewalk connectivity public hearing, town hall, 8:15 p.m.

Aug. 14 – K-9 options, town hall, 6 p.m.

10:06 P.M NOTE: The Bluffton warning siren was activated by Allen County, not by the village. At 9:44 p.m. the Bluffton warning siren alerted residents of heavy rains heading toward Bluffton from the west.
