Unscientific but revealing results

On Tax Day April 19 people coming out of the Bluffton Post Office were handed a handful of beans, and asked how they would distribute federal taxes if they were in charge.

Those who participated, distributed their beans into jars labeled with categories of the federal budget.

Work begins May 30 - bridge could close for up to 4 months

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation Interstate 75, State Route 103 will be affected at times for bridge deck replacements on Napoleon Road over Interstate 75, Beaverdam, and State Route 103 (Bentley Road) over Interstate 75, Bluffton. The following are upcoming impacts related to the project:

Bentley Road (state Route 103)

• Two bridges on Bentley Road (one over Interstate 75 and one over the railroad north of Interstate 75) will close May 30 for approximately four months.

It should be a short Bluffton council meeting on Monday. The agenda includes the reading of an alley vacation ordinance and reports from committees.

Council meets at 8 p.m. in the town hall. The agenda is attached.

Gary M. Marshall, 77, died May 19, 2017, at 10:49 at St. Rita's Inpatient Hospice in Lima. Gary was born July 18, 1939, in Greeley, Colo., to the late Paul and Rose (Markus) Marshall. In 1978, he married Sharon Parkins who survives. 

Gary was a supervisor/foreman at Motorola, JB Tool and Machine in Wapakoneta, RCA and DTR Industries in Bluffton.  He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous with over 18 years of sobriety.

Bluffton High School's track and field teams had an outstanding day at the Findlay Division III district meet.

The boys' won the district and the girls finished third.

Ann Kingsley's third grade class took a short field trip to the Oscar Velasquez mural on Main Street earlier this week. She shared with students the background of the mural and some of the history it portrays. Dennis Morrison took the two photos.
