Here's Bluffton January to December 2016

The Icon posted hundreds of photos in 2016.

As a final look at the year we bid farewell to, here’s some of our more interesting feature photos.

Community Vacation Bible School took place at Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Over 120 youths attended. Here’s a view of a game underway.

Jadyn Barhorst is active in several school organizations

Jadyn Barhorst, a senior, is the December Bluffton High School student of the month. She is the daughter of Joe Barhorst, and Rebecca Hasting. Jadyn has a cumulative 3.911 grade point average.

It was a quick timeout, but BHS boys' basketball coach, Todd Boblitt, gets some instructions in. The Pirates won this year's McDonald's Boys' Holiday Tournament. The Pirates are on the road in the first two games of 2017. Two Western Buckeye League opponents entertain Bluffton. On Saturday BHS travels to Ottawa-Glandorf. Next Tuesday BHS travels to Wapakoneta.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior guard Austin Rohde (Shelby) has been named the Heartland Conference Player of the Week after leading Bluffton to a 2-0 mark and tourney championship at the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament on New Years Eve.

Rohde averaged 19 points per game on 60 percent from the field, earning tournament MVP honors for his work in the Sommer Center. The senior was perfect from the charity stripe (6-6), and also averaged three rebounds and two assists per game.

Paul photographed this fast-moving freight as it crossed the railroad bridge at Marsh Run north of Bluffton. The smoke stack in the background is the Woodcock power plant - bellowing more black smoke that the loco.

The freight passed Bluffton northbound toward Findlay and eventually ended in Bellevue.
