Silver Sneaker classes now on Wednesdays and Fridays at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation is now offering classes twice a week through the Healthway SilverSneakers Fitness Program, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

“The program is for older adults and involves regular physical activity,” said Beagle. “Each class session lasts between 45 and 60 minutes held on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:45 a.m. at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.”

The Wednesday class is a new option in the program.

The sessions not only force movement, but also help participants who have joint pain and arthritis issues.

Four Deuces Car Club holds Hilty Home cruise-in July 30

Hilty Home, Pandora, will host a cruise-in from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 30, at the retirement home, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora.

The event, sponsored by Four Deuces Car Club of Ottawa, is open to hot rods, customs and classic vehicles. Registration and admission is free.

A “Residents’ Choice” award will be presented. For more details call Jane at 419-523-5663.

Reva Doty was a 1934 Pandora High School graduate

Reva M. Doty, 99, died July 29, 2015, at 3:20 p.m. at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. 

Reva was born May 8, 1916, in Putnam County to the late Joseph and Eva (Perkins) Habegger.  On March 12, 1939, she married Oren Doty who preceded her in death on April 18, 1998.

The Northwest Ohio Lunachix 16U fastpitch travel softball team is holding try-outs for the 2016 season on Sunday, Aug 16 (rain date: Sunday, Aug 23) from 1-3 p.m. at the Bluffton village park.

Fall sports practice starts Aug. 1

The official start of fall sports practices is Saturday for member schools of the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Aug. 1 is the annual start date for all OHSAA sanctioned fall sports, which include girls tennis, girls and boys golf, girls and boys cross country, field hockey, boys and girls soccer, volleyball and football.
