It is anticipated that over $20,000 will be donated to the American Cancer Society as a result of this year's Bluffton Area Relay for Life. Here participants work the track at Bluffton University.

The rainy weather skirted Bluffton on Friday, June 20, allowing the local Relay for Life event to be held at the university stadium.  While the final amount raised will not be formally announced for several weeks, it is anticipated that over $20,000 will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Rev. Mark Fuerstenau has accepted the pastorate of the Pleasant View and Mount Cory United Methodist Churches.

He comes from Middle Point and Kossuth United Methodist Churches. His wife, DJ, retired this summer after almost nine years serving the Zion United Methodist in the Delphos/Elida area.

Rev. Fuerstenau is a retired teacher and has worked in the corrections field since moving to the Delphos area.

Several Bluffton High School athletes were named Northwest Conference Scholar Athletes for the spring sports season.  The criteria for being selected are as follows:

•  Earned a varsity letter during the spring sports season.
•  Earned a minimum 3.00 GPA during the grading period of the sport.

The United Way of Bluffton, Beaverdam, and Richland Township would like to thank all the local individuals, families, and businesses that helped make our 2014 campaign year a success, we met our goal of $24,500 in donations.
