Ronald E. Conrad

Ronald E. Conrad, 66, of Columbus Grove died at 12:36 a.m. Aug. 27, 2011 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, He was born in Lima March 23, 1945 to Virgil and Arvilla Naas Conrad. On Aug. 25, 1972 he married Joyce Williams and she survives.

Ron retired from Accubuilt, Lima, where he worked as an accountant for 43 years. He graduated from Bath High School, Northwest Business College and served in the Army in Viet Nam. He was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church.

Betty Picklesimer

Betty Marie Picklesimer, 74, of Bluffton, died at 4 p.m. Aug. 26, 2011, at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born July 13, 1937, in Vanlue to Charles and Eva Watson Grant. On July 25, 1958, she married James Leo Picklesimer and he preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1996.

Mrs. Picklesimer graduated from Mt. Blanchard High School and attended Ohio Northern University where she received a 2-year teaching certificate.

Scott K. Murray, 81, died at 3:30 p.m., Aug. 23, 2011, at his Wapakoneta, Ohio, residence.

He was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Bluffton to Nile and Ethel Scoles Murray. On Sept. 8, 1948, he married Patricia J. O'Brien, who died July 18, 2005.

Mr. Murray had been an electrician and high-voltage lineman for Ohio Power Co., and later with the city of Wapakoneta and the city of St. Marys.

You graduated from BHS this spring. Now what?

I've enrolled at Wright State University, Dayton, where I plan to major in nursing. I want to become an R.N. and then a nurse practitioner.

So, when is your last day at Common Grounds, and how much coffee do you drink in one day?

My last day is Saturday, Aug. 27, and no, I've actually never had any coffee in the two years that I've worked there. I do, however, like lattes.

The village of Bluffton will see its annual population spike this weekend, beginning Friday, Aug. 26, with about 280 new first-year and transfer students moving onto the Bluffton University campus.

New student move-in, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, will open a weekend on which other Bluffton undergraduates will return to campus for the start of classes Monday, Aug. 29.
