Francis D. Nusbaum 1918-2010
Francis D. Nusbaum, 91 of Pandora died at 12:40 a.m. at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. He was born April 23, 1918 in Pandora to Gideon and Rose Haas Nusbaum. On Sept. 4, 1938 he married Grace Genevieve Sheidler and she died Oct. 14, 1998.
Mr. Nusbaum was a long time member of the Riley Creek and Pandora United Methodist churches. Francis and Genevieve owned and operated a grain and beef cattle farm in Riley Township For 45 years before retiring in 1990.
For the past six years, Mr. Nusbaum resided in one of the Hilty Home's Riley Creek Villas. For several of those years he was very active and enjoyed playing shuffle board, bicycling, participating in senior citizen trips, visiting residents at the Hilty Memorial Home and cruising down the streets of Pandora in his golf cart.
Survivors include a daughter Jane (Steven) Worstell of Belton, Missouri; a son Paul D. (Valerie) Nusbaum of Pandora; three grandchildren Amy (Todd) Hathaway of Erieville, New York, Rachel (Ricardo) Viera of Jamestown, North Carolina and Ryan D. (Erin) Nusbaum of Columbus, Ohio; six great grandchildren Kyler and Cashel Hathaway, Grace, Luke and Olivia Viera, and Zachary D. Nusbaum.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Joan Kay Nusbaum; two sisters Violet Slusser and Alice Geiger; and two brothers Lewis and John Nusbaum.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 18, 2010 at Pandora United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Hollinger officiating. Burial will be held in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora.Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hilty Memorial Home.
