Tomlinson named HCAC Player of Week
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University wide receiver Jack Tomlinson (Westerville/South) led the Beavers to a convincing 44-23 win over rival Defiance Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week on offense. It marked the fourth time this season that Bluffton football had an athlete named Player of the Week, following Brad Swavel (Marion/Ridgedale), Miguel Alicia (Westerville/South) and Jordan Watkins (Reynoldburg).
The talented senior hauled in 10 catches for 157 yards and a Bluffton single-game record four receiving touchdowns in the win. The four receiving touchdowns also tie him for second all-time in the Heartland Conference.
Tomlinson equaled Eric Metz for #1 all-time with 62 catches this season and his 936 receiving yards place him 3rd on Bluffton's single season list (3rd in the HCAC this season). He also ended 2nd all-time with eight receiving touchdowns for the season, behind Donovan Brown's (Cincinnati/Purcell/Marian) 10 in 2013.
Bluffton closed the season 6-4 overall and 6-2 in HCAC play after winning six of its last seven games.
