BFR repurposed shoe drive continues
If you've not yet donated your used shoes to Bluffton Family Recreation, there's still time. But, that time is growing short.
To date BFR has collected a little over 152 bags of shoes (25 pair to a bag). That translates to around 3,800 pair of shoes.
This is BFR’s fourth shoe drive, which generates money for BFR programs and recycles old shoes. BFR earns money for shoes collected. Since 2014, the project has generated over $4,000 to BFR.
Last year’s drive, BFR’s largest ever, generated $2,021.
Here’s how it works:
BFR invites residents to drop off used shoes during the drive period at 215 Snider Road. Shoes should be gently worn, new or used. Three other shoe collections points in town are:
• Polished
• Village Cut ‘n’ Curl
• Spectrum Salon
BFR partners with Funds2orgs.com in this program. Used shoes collected are repurposed instead of going into landfills. Shoes collected are sent to community- based groups around the world to be repaired and resold or recycled.
