University to offer competitive cheer/STUNT next fall
Bluffton University’s cheer program is expanding. Starting in fall 2019, Bluffton will have a competitive cheer/STUNT team in addition to the current football and basketball cheerleading squads.
During the inaugural year, the new cheer/STUNT team will compete as a club sport against other NCAA DII and DIII schools from across the Midwest as well as in NCAA STUNT competitions. There are only 29 other schools offering this exciting sport but demand is growing.
Students who are interested in participating on the team will be required to try out for Bluffton’s cheer/STUNT squad. Tryouts will be held on campus April 6. The tryout will include a dance and short cheer routine (taught onsite), stunt practice with current Bluffton students and open tumbling. Tryouts for sideline football cheer will also take place at this time.
Preference will be given to students with at least three years of All-Star cheer or stunt experience. Students must also be accepted to Bluffton University before being invited to join the program. To try out, please contact Morgann Rode, cheerleading coach, at [email protected].
