Bluffton teachers win Health Action Council challenge
A collective 577,868 steps earned the Pirates "Team B"--a.k.a. Jaime Combs, Heidi Steiner, and Ryan Dunlap--$1,500 for Bluffton Schools, courtesy of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).
They were part of a competition including 25 teams and 254 participants, completing 50,193,603 total steps.
“Everyone benefits from adopting healthy habits. The easiest way to teach these habits to students is by example,” said Patty Starr, President & CEO of Health Action Council.
Six district winners won $1,000 for their school. The winners were: Horizon Science Academy-Cleveland and Jackson-Milton Local Schools, Sheridan High School, Liberty-Benton Local Schools, Dublin Jerome High School, Fort Frye Local Schools, and Holy Angels Catholic School.
In partnership with MoveSpring, the Healthy Kids Step It Up Challenge is a three-week step program that brings families, school leaders, teachers, coaches, and communities together to promote improved health and wellness.
