ODOT requests public comment on roundabout design for SR 81/CR 15 intersection

MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 is advancing a project to improve safety by constructing a roundabout at the intersection of State Route 81 and County Road 15 on the Allen County-Hardin County line, just west of the village of Ada.
In 2025, an intersection improvement study recommended building a roundabout. The project was subsequently awarded funds from Ohio’s Highway Safety Program to construct a roundabout in 2030.
Following the funding award, ODOT has conducted an alternatives study to evaluate roundabout designs options for the location and has recommended a preferred alternative, the south circular roundabout. The design achieves the safety objectives while minimizing overall construction costs, utility conflicts, right-of-way needs, and environmental impacts.
Construction cost is estimated at $2.9 million.
ODOT is asking the public to review the layouts and provide feedback that may be useful to the design team to help ensure the project's success. The study including intersection crash data and the roundabout layouts considered is available on the project website:

How to provide feedback
The public is encouraged to share their thoughts on the proposed design alternatives for the intersection by Oct. 15, 2026.
Comments regarding the project will be accepted at any time, but those received by the deadline will be included in the official public input summary report. Public input will help shape the final design.

- Requests for interpretation service or reasonable accommodation may be submitted through the project website or by contacting the project manager.
