Nora Matthews named BHS Student of the Month for September 2026
MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton High School is proud to recognize senior Nora Matthews as the September 2026 Student of the Month. The daughter of Brendon and Renee Matthews of Bluffton, Nora has distinguished herself through academics, athletics, leadership, the arts, and service to her school and community.
Nora has excelled academically throughout her high school career, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while taking college-level courses in mathematics at Rhodes State and English and sociology courses through the University of Findlay. Her scholarly achievements have been recognized throughout high school. Matthews obtained academic honors in ninth-grade science and history, tenth-grade English, and eleventh-grade design, chemistry, and government. She is a member of the National Honor Society, BHS Student Senate, and serves as senior class president.
The arts have been an important part of Matthews’ high school experience. She participates in marching, jazz, pep, and concert bands, as well as Art Club, giving her opportunities to explore both music and visual art. Her work has earned recognition beyond the classroom, with two of her pieces accepted into the Kewpee High School Art Invitational. She continues to develop her musical talents by taking piano lessons in her free time.
Athletics have also played a significant role in Matthews' time at Bluffton High School. She serves as captain of the girls soccer team and is a two-time All-Conference player. In track, she is a five-time state qualifier.
Beyond school activities, Nora serves on the First National Bank Junior Board and is a member of Leo Club, a student community service organization. Her involvement in the school community has also earned the respect of her peers, who selected her as a Homecoming attendant during both her freshman and senior years. Together, these experiences highlight Nora’s commitment to leadership, service and representing Bluffton High School both within the school and throughout the local community.
Outside school, Nora enjoys reading, running, spending time over coffee with her older sister, playing game nights with friends, and creating art. She works at the Twisted Whisk Coffee Shop, provides pet-sitting services, and volunteers at Bluffton Book ReViews.
After graduation, Nora plans to attend the University of Findlay.
Matthew’s involvement throughout high school has made her a well-rounded student and an active member of the Pirate community. Bluffton High School congratulates Nora Matthews on being selected as the September 2026 Student of the Month.
