Pirate girls soccer loss vs. St. Marys

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost 5-1 to visiting Western Buckeye League foe St. Marys in a non-league match on Thursday, Oct. 8 at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirate girls fell to 6-8-1 with the defeat.

SM improved to 9-3-2 after the victory.

Sophomore Samantha Rueller tallied the Pirate goal with an assist from junior Willow Derstine.

Claire Turner netted two goals for the Roughriders. Caitlin Liette and Piper Triplett tallied a goal apiece. SM’s Allison Ankerman passed out two assists, while Bella Hertenstein dished out one helper.

Pirate junior keeper Maelee Miller was credited with five saves.

The Pirate girls host Liberty Center Oct. 13, then entertain WBL leader Ottawa-Glandorf (8-4-3) Oct. 15.
