Obituaries

Gladys E. Simmons, 95, of Bluffton, Ohio and formerly of Bally, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 14, 2021 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Gladys was born October 25, 1926 in Kitchener, Ontario to the late Howard and Estella (Snyder) Weber. On July 1, 1950 she married Richard Simmons who preceded her in death on August 9, 2004. 

Dale L. Huber, age 94, died at home with family on November 12, 2021.  

He was born on Dec. 14, 1926 in the original Huber Homestead Farm house to Russell and Josephine (Niswander) Huber, who preceded him in death. Dale married the love of his life, Etta Jo Maynard on Jan. 21, 1951 and she preceded him in death on Feb.5, 2016. 

Diann Kay Yoder, 81, passed away November 10, 2021 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.  Diann was born April 29, 1940 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Milo and Inez (Luginbill) Habegger.  On September 17, 1961 she married Alan Yoder.

David Wilson Travis, 73, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2021 at his home on Douglas Lake, Michigan. 

Dave was born on November 14, 1947 in Bluffton, Ohio to Eloise (Kellogg) and Dr. Boyd Travis. He attended Bluffton schools, Culver Military Academy and graduated from Baldwin Wallace University where he played football. 

Dave served in the Air Force in Vietnam and later retired after a career as a pilot with American Airlines. 

Michael Kent Mathewson, age 64, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 4, 2021 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Mike reported to work on Wednesday, November 3rd and returned home following a productive day, only to suffer from a massive brain aneurysm later in the evening. He died a few hours later as a result of his unknown health condition. 

Margaret L. Basinger, 77, passed away November 3, 2021 at her residence.  Margaret was born March 26, 1944 in Findlay to the late Wilson and Jennie (Hartman) Otto. On December 28, 1963, she married Rolland Basinger who preceded her in death on September 21, 2020. 

Margaret retired from Dr. Groman Optometry in Pandora where she was an optometric assistant.  She loved helping the children in vision therapy and took great pride in assisting with eyewear selection and fittings.  Margaret attended Ottawa Missionary Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
