Sister Carol Inkrott retires after 17 years as St. Mary's pastoral leader

Sister Carol Inkrott celebrates her final mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Sunday.
Serving since 2002, she is the senior pastoral leader in the local ministerial community, having served here 17 years.
Rev. John McLoughlin, Ephrata, Pennsylvania, becomes the parish full-time pastor on Aug. 10. His official installation by Toledo Diocese Bishop Daniel Thomas is Saturday, Sept. 20.
E. Elwood James, 84, of Mt. Cory, died July 23, 2019, at his residence. Elwood was born July 7, 1935, in Vanlue to the late G. E. and Irene (Haugh) James. On Dec. 22, 1956 he married Mildred Hanna James who survives.
Elwood graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was honored with the Kentucky Colonel. Elwood was the manager of the Mt. Cory Elevator. He was an active member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Bluffton, and the Findlay Glass Club. Elwood was an active co-op tractor collector and enjoyed gardening.
Emmanuel United Church of Christ is holding an ice cream social on Friday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The menu includes shredded chicken or sloppy joe sandwiches, chicken noodles, baked beans, a variety of salads, pies and cakes, plus beverages and, ice cream.
The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children (ages 10 and under).
