Village reviewing all parking restrictions in Bluffton

Ordered four radar speed identification signs

Permit parking and permissive license plate tax are two subjects addressed this month by the Bluffton council’s street, light, alley and sidewalk committee.

Meeting on June 27, Joe Sehlhorst and Jerry Cupples, committee members, with Jesse Blackburn and Bryan Lloyd of the village, discussed those subjects and others:
• Permit parking
• Combined sidewalk and curbs
• 2019 capital improvement budget
• Permissive license plate
• Radar speed identification signs

With her pet rooster

Corrinne Boehr holds one of her pet roosters. She was among several Maple Crest elders who displays hobbies and collections on July 11 in the Maple Crest Patio Room. Actually, she collects roosters (not the pet kind). You'll see three more in the next photo. Watch the Icon next week for additional photos from the show.

State Road over I-75 near Beaverdam closed July 15

State Road over Interstate 75, south of Beaverdam, will be closed Monday, July 15, during daytime hours for bridge deck sealing, according to th Ohio Department of Transportation.

This project will not affect Interstate 75, but the interstate will be restricted to one lane in the area due to a larger resurfacing project.

The bridge work is being performed by the ODOT District 1 roadway services department.

Children’s auditions scheduled

for ONU ‘Holiday Spectacular’ extravaganza

Ohio Northern University will hold children’s auditions for the “Holiday Spectacular” extravaganza from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, in the campus’ Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

Auditions will be held for singers and dancers ages 5 to 12. Those auditioning may be asked to sing and should be ready to participate in a dance call (jazz and/or tap shoes). No prepared dance or vocal solos, please.

Mercy Health celebrates Neil Armstrong’s visit to the moon

Former Astronaut Gregory H. Johnson visits Lima July 19

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center is hosting an opportunity for individuals to meet former Astronaut and Col. Gregory H. Johnson.

On Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m., he will be giving a presentation at the St. Rita’s Auxiliary Conference Center. There is no cost to attend and light refreshments will be served.
