Community Assistance board meets Feb. 17

The Bluffton Community Assistance Program board will hold its winter meeting at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 17, at St. John's United Church of Christ, according to Ed Yeager, board president.

The board oversees the Bluffton food pantry in addition to the community assistance it provides to the Bluffton school district community.

Bias and privilege discussion

During MLK Forum at Bluffton University Jan. 21

Dr. LaShonda Gurley, director of the Center for Career and Vocation at Bluffton University, will present, “Walking the Talk: Transforming the Dream into Reality,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in Yoder Recital Hall.

During the presentation, Gurley will relate portions of King’s well-known and often quoted 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech to the areas of bias and the privilege we recognize in 2020.

Vendors and crafters needed for the S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Service Club's annual craft and garage sale at The Centre at Bluffton, 601 N. Main St., to be held on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28-29.

Troy Duer 1961 - 2020

Troy Tyrone Duer, 58, of Bluffton, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 27, 1961, in Lima to Judi Duer; she preceded him in death in 2008.

He is survived by a son, John (Abby Lopshire) Duer of Van Wert; a daughter, Katie Duer of Florida; and a grandson, Bentley Duer.

Troy was a high school graduate and had been a truck driver for many years.

Private funeral services will be at a later date. Arrangements are handled by Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. To leave condolences visit harterandschier.com
