Bluffton will have new refuse and recycle carrier in June

Contract awarded to Rumpke

Bluffton trash and recycle customers will have a new carrier beginning June 1.

Rumpke Waste and Recycling was awarded the bid as the village’s carrier during Monday’s council meeting. The current carrier, Republic, also submitted a bid and it was not accepted.

Council approved a three-year contract with Rumpke, who is Ohio’s largest recycler by volume. Customers will eventually have their current green and blue totes removed and replaced with totes from the new carrier.

3 Pirate boys make All-NWC cage squad

Luke Denecker, Mason Soper, 1st team: Jared Piercefield, 2nd team

DELPHOS  - Two Bluffton boys received first team All-Northwest Conference basketball honors from league coaches in voting conducted at their annual selection meeting Monday night.

Senior Luke Denecker and classmate Mason Soper were each voted first team All-NWC.

Denecker became just the second Pirate male to surpass 1,000 points in his career this year before a knee injury ended his season.

Pirate senior Jared Piercefield was also named second team all-league.

Kindergarten registration for 2020-21 underway

Bluffton schools remind parents of next year's Kindergarteners that it is time to register those students.

Here's the details from the elementary newsletter:

It’s time to think about Kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year.  Any child who will be 5 by Aug. 1, 2020, is eligible to enroll. 

In order to develop a kindergarten mailing list, contact the elementary office at 419-358-7951.
