University Discover Bluffton Visit Day Oct. 17

Bluffton University admissions to hold Discover Bluffton Visit Days

High school juniors and seniors and their parents are invited to join Bluffton University for a Discover Bluffton Visit Day.

The experience includes admissions and financial aid presentations, student panel discussions, campus tours and more. The next in-person event will take place from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Oct. 17. Students can register at www.bluffton.edu/visit.

Temperatures ranged from high of 87, low of 38 in September

But the average temperature of 64.8 was close to the the month's normal average

Icon viewers experienced a 49-degree temperature range in September, with a low of 38 degrees on Sept. 19 and a high of 87 degrees on Sept. 8.

Despite that wide temperature gap, the average September 2020 temperature was 64.8 degrees, compared to the normal average September temperature of 64.1, according to Guy Verhoff, U.S. weather observer in Pandora.

Beaver volleyball season begins in January

Bluffton University announced its Heartland Conference volleyball schedule for the 2020-21 school year.

The nine-date slate kicks off when the Beavers welcome Earlham College on Friday, Jan. 22. Below are the dates and opponents for the spring 2021 contests.

Friday, January 22 - Earlham (HOME)

Wednesday, January 27 - Anderson (HOME)

Saturday, January 30 - Transylvania (Away)

Tuesday, February 2 - Mount St. Joseph (Away)

Friday, February 5 - Hanover (Away)

Wednesday, February 10 - Manchester (HOME)

Beaver spring soccer schedules announced

Bluffton University announced its Heartland Conference men's and women's soccer schedules for the 2020-21 school year.

The nine-game women's slate kicks off with rival Defiance traveling to the Sears Complex on Wednesday, March 3. Below are the dates and opponents for the spring 2021 contests. Start times for all of the HCAC games will be determined.

The Beavers will play at Trine on Tuesday, Oct. 13, before hosting Adrian on Saturday, Oct. 17.

No Blaze parade but the lights will go on Nov. 28

"You Can't Stop Christmas From Coming" this year's theme

This year’s Bluffton Blaze of Lights will be trimmed back from previous celebrations.

Despite that, you can't help but admire the 2020 Blaze theme: “You Can’t Stop Christmas From Coming."

Joe Sehlhorst, Bluffton council member and village rep to the committee, explained some of this year’s plans during Monday’s council meeting.

The Blaze takes place Saturday, Nov. 28, and there will be no parade, however Shop Small Saturday will take place.
