Bike alert! Lots of bike coming through Bluffton on Sunday

The Hancock Horizontal Hundred Bicycle Tour will bring hundreds of bicycle riders through Bluffton on Sunday, Sept. 8. The bike tour by the Findlay-based club includes rides of 20, 40, 62 and 100 miles.

The 100-mile route includes a trip through Bluffton, at the 75-mile rest stop, which is at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church on Main Street.

Bikers are expected to stop at the rest stop between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on their ride back to the starting point in Findlay. This year is the 43rd annual ride.

Jeff Stratton selected to participate in Hancock Leadership '14 class

Jeff Stratton, First National Bank, is selected to participate in the Hancock Leadership ’14 class. The class was chosen from applicants submitted by residents of Findlay and Hancock County.

HL ’14 will participate in a nine-month seminar program, which began with a Saturday retreat in August.  During the class year, members will be exposed to many aspects of the Findlay-Hancock County community including agriculture, city/county infrastructure, local history, legal system, public safety, business and economic development, health and human services, education and arts and media.

Parent-teacher conference dates were announced by Bluffton schools.

Bluffton Elementary and Middle School
Monday, Nov. 25, 5-8 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.

Bluffton High School
Monday, Nov. 25, 5-8 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 26, 5-8 p.m.

Bluffton schools open house Sept. 30

The Bluffton schools will hold a district-wide open house on Monday, Sept. 30. The elementary will be open from 6 to 7 p.m., the middle school from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the high school from 7 to 8 p.,m.

Several community organizations will have booths set up in the elementary gym and information will be available on ways to provide support to the school and community.

All parents and community members are invited to this open house to meet staff members, observe facilities and learn about the educational program of the school.

Nine senior citizen breakfasts planned this year

Bluffton senior citizens breakfasts for the 2013-14 school year are set. Breakfasts take place at 8:30 a.m. in the middle school cafetorium and are free for senior citizens in the school district. 

Following breakfast a school musical group or dramatic group performs. Here is this year's schedule:
