Bluffton men roll over Ohio Midwestern 98-55

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s basketball team cruised to a 98-55 victory over the Ohio Midwestern Rams on Friday, Dec. 18. The Beavers improved to 6-2 overall heading into their Christmas break.

Monday's school board session focus on several contracts

Bluffton school board focuses on year-end matters during its final regular meeting of 2015 on Monday. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. in the elementary media center.

The agenda includes:
• Long-term substitute contract
• Substitute teacher approvals
• Saturday school supervisor hire
• Students for Other Students coordinator

In other action, the board will approve a school calendar for 2016-17 and will set its 2016 reorganization meeting for 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11.

A slew of year-end ordinances and resolutions face Bluffton council members on Monday in the final regular session for 2015.

Anticipated action includes the final reading of the 2016 appropriations ordinance. A 13-page draft of the appropriations is part of the council packet, which is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Other action includes prohibiting semi-trailers on Lake Street, parking or storing inoperative vehicles in the village, regulating parking in the municipal parking lot and regulating parking on portions of Main Street at Jefferson Street.

Margie Geiger, 80 of Bluffton died Dec. 18, 2015, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Lloyd "Walt" Early was a World War II veteran

Lloyd "Walt" Early, 93, of Jenera, died on Thursday at the Good Samaritan Home in Arlington. Walt was born on Aug., 7, 1922 in Allen County to the late Schuyler C. and Josephine L. (Bundy) Early. He was married to Marilyn W. Betz, Marjory E. Robbins and Betty A. VanDeventer and they all have preceded him in death.
