Elementary class lists posted at 5 p.m. Wednesday

...and here's lots of other elementary back-to-school details

Who is your teacher? Who are your classmates?

Those questions will be answered after 5 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, as Bluffton elementary class lists for 2019-20 will be posted on the front doors of the elementy building.

There's much more back to school information related to the elementary. Below are portions of the August elementary newsletter.

No spine required if you are an invertebrate

Simply rsvp now for Wednesday's library program at the Buckeye park

Invertebrate [inˈvərdəbrət, inˈvərdəbrāt] - an animal lacking a backbone, such as an arthropod, mollusk, annelid, coelenterate, etc. The invertebrates constitute an artificial division of the animal kingdom, comprising 95 percent of animal species and about 30 different phyla.

Now that you know something about the subject - register with the Bluffton Public Library for a program where you will learn much more about the subject.

Sans instruments

That's Dave Sycks on the second floor of this week's Bluffton HS band camp, as you will see in the accompanying photos. The Icon stopped by band camp on Tuesday during a session without instruments, as band members were learning their routine. Here are some views in process. The band will give a parents' show at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 16, in the practice field at Harmon stadium.

Girls' tennis: Celina downs Bluffton netters

Erin Hotmire posted the lone Lady Pirate win at first singles

CELINA - The Bluffton girls tennis team lost its season-opening match at Celina Monday by a 4-1 count.

Erin Hotmire posted the lone Lady Pirate win at first singles with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory over Gracie Gabes.

Bluffton's Olivia Barnes suffered a tough 6-4, 6-4 defeat at second singles. Pirate Julia Smallcomb lost a close three-setter at third singles 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

Pearl Lewandowski and Ellison Pugsley lost in straight sets at number one doubles.

Abbey Miles earns "Outstanding of the Day" at state fair

Abbey Miles, daughter of James and Kathy Miles, earned Outstanding of the Day at the Ohio State Fair with her Purrfect Pets project.  She is a member of The Blue Ribbon Stock 4H Club.

"God bless the wheels" Aug. 18 at Trinity UMC

Trinity United Methodist Church, 2022 State Route 103, Bluffton, will hold a "God bless the wheels" event on Sunday, Aug. 18.

The outdoor blessing of the wheels begins at 11:30 a.m. following the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The wheel blessing includes motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles, antique cars and anything with wheels.

There will be a bouncy house train rides for the kids, a kids' pedal tractor pull and
 food and refreshments.
