Hunter named HCAC Track Athlete of the Week

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University’s Sarah Hunter (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio/Riverdale) ran away from the 800-meter field at the Findlay Classic over the weekend and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. 

Bluffton Public Library designates computer for ESL learners

Bluffton Public Library now features a computer reserved for English language learners. This English as a Second Language (ESL) Education Station is located on the library’s main floor, and may be accessed with a library card or current, government-issued photo ID.

The station includes earbuds for in-library use as well as free paper and writing utensils for note-taking. Guides with suggested websites for online English activities are also located at this station.

EMS has over 40 runs in January

Bluffton EMS had over 40 runs in January, according to Jan Basinger, EMS chief. Those runs follow:

Mark Bixel performs at Marathon Center for the Performing Arts

Mark Bixel, son of Dean and Brenda Bixel, of Bluffton, was selected to perform at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts in Findlay on the evening of Dec. 9. 

The 800-invitation only, private open house was for donors who contributed to the capital campaign of the performing arts center. 

Donors were able to walk out onto the theater’s stage, enjoy paintings in the gallery and mingle in the Gary and Jane Heminger Atrium, where Gary Heminger, CEO of Marathon Petroleum Corporation, greeted the visitors.
