Saturday morning at BFR!

Get your wish list ready. Santa Claus is coming to town on Saturday. He will visit with youth of all ages at Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. If you miss him Saturday, he returns to Bluffton on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at The Dough Hook.

Bluffton schools ranks 11th among 608 Ohio schools as "Best School Districts for Your Buck"

NerdWallet, an internet company has identified Bluffton school district as its 11th “Best School District in Ohio for Your Buck.” That ranking includes 608 Ohio school districts. Those top 11 districts are listed in an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Libby Schmenk was a Pandora High School graduate

Catherine Elizabeth "Libby" Schmenk, 86, died Dec. 11, 2015, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora.  Libby was born Jan. 6, 1929 in Bluffton to the late Dave and Ethel (Owens) Fisher.  On Sept. 27, 1952, she married Leo T. Schmenk who preceded her in death on April 21, 1986.

Libby was a homemaker.  She had also worked at Triplett Corporation, Bluffton.  Libby was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bluffton. She was a 1946 graduate of Pandora High School.

Tommy Tire Sales expanding with store coming to Ada

Tommy Tire Sales of Bluffton is expanding to Ada.

The Bluffton-based business will open a store south of Ada at 3032 State Route 309. The business is located at the intersection of 309 and State Route 235, in a former carpet warehouse.

Tom Dotson, owner of the tire sales, said that Ada store will offer all the services already available in Bluffton. That includes: 
• passenger and light truck tires
• small farm tires
• all-steel carports –used for garages, utility and agriculture buildings
• trailers

The 12 days of Christmas...we mean the 12 day of university finals

Anyone who has experienced college final exams can appreciate this video.

It features J. Denny Beaver and his friend Jenny Beaver, Bluffton University mascots. The video is from Bluffton University.

It's a new version of the 12 days of Christmas.

Watch for these stickers on member windows and doors

The 2016 Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce membership window stickers are starting to appear on member doors and windows. The stickers were distributed at the Dec. 11 chamber breakfast. 

Members who did not attend will have stickers mailed to them next week. The 2016 sticker is a change from the previous sticker. The new one, in Bluffton High School red and white colors, features the chamber's new "Explore Bluffton" logo. 

Like previous stickers, it features the clocktower of the town hall.
