Rose-Hulman visits Bluffton on Saturday

The Bluffton University football team faced off against rival Defiance on a rainy Saturday, April 10.

Bluffton held off the rival Jackets thanks to a fourth quarter fumble and then a 4th down stop at the Bluffton 42 with just 1:25 to play as the Beavers improved to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Conference. Defiance fell to 2-4 on both accounts.

Here's an update on Bluffton University spring sports.

MEN'S GOLF
The Bluffton University men's golf team hit the road early Tuesday morning for midweek match at the Legacy Golf Club in Ottawa Lake, Mich., hosted by Lourdes University from Toledo. The Beavers finished their Tuesday, April 13, with a team score of 342.

Greenhorn Restaurant requesting to serve patrons on its sidewalk

Bluffton council exploring options available

Bluffton council is working the Jonah Agner, owner of Greenhorn Restaurant, as Agner has requested to serve patrons on the sidewalk in front of his business on Vine Street.

Agner’s request is to serve patrons dinners and alcohol. Council discussed the request on April 12. Council’s streets and sidewalk committee brought the request to council following a March 24 committee meeting.

The committee is requesting that pedestrians have a four-foot walk-through clearance on the sidewalk. There would also be tables positioned and a barrier in place.

Local students named to Bluffton’s undergraduate dean’s list

Bluffton University has announced the dean’s list for undergraduate students for the fall 2020 term. Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list. Area students on the list follow:

Haiku Hike Saturday at Quarry Farm

April is National Poetry Month • April 22 is Earth Day • April 17 is International Haiku Poetry Day

April is National Poetry Month, April 22 is Earth Day and April 17 is International Haiku Poetry Day.

In celebration of all three, The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm is offering a "Haiku Hike" on Saturday, April 17, from 1 to 2 p.m.

"We will walk the trails, look for wildlife and spring wildflowers and—you guessed it—try our hands at writing haikus about nature in Spring," said Anne Coburn-Griffis.
